Installing a
dash cam in your car might seem daunting, but modern devices like the SAFY9 are designed for straightforward, DIY installation. This comprehensive guide breaks down the process into 5 essential steps, making setup simple even for new drivers or anyone tackling their first installation. Follow these easy tips to have your SAFY9 front and rear dash cam recording and protecting your vehicle.

Before You Begin: What’s in the Box & Key Warnings

The SAFY9 package includes everything you need for basic recording. Before you start, check your package contents and keep these important notes in mind:

Important Safety Warnings

  • Airbags: When routing power and rear camera cables, ABSOLUTELY AVOID any interference with your vehicle's airbags. If you are unsure about cable routing near the A-Pillar, please consult a professional installer.
  • Parking Mode: To enable Parking Mode, the official Hardwire Kit (sold separately) is required. Standard USB power does not enable Parking Mode.

Step 1: Initial Preparations & Mounting the Front Camera

  1. Insert the MicroSD Card: Insert until a click is heard; ensure fully seated before powering on.
  2. Clean the Windshield: Clean a flat windshield area (avoid edges/curves).
  3. Apply the Electrostatic Sticker: Peel backing, place, and press outward from center to remove air bubbles.
  4. Mount the Front Camera: Slide the mount bracket into the slot until it clicks. Remove adhesive backing on the bracket, align with sticker, and press firmly and hold for several seconds.

Step 2: Power Cable Routing and Connection

  1. Route the Cable: Route cable along windshield edge and A‑pillar towards your power source.
  2. Connect Power Source (Choose One):
  • Option 1 (USB-A): Plug into vehicle’s USB‑A port (5V 2A or higher recommended).
  • Option 2 (12V/24V Outlet): Insert into the supplied car charger adapter; plug into the vehicle’s 12V/24V outlet.
  • SAFY9 Tip: To enable advanced Parking Mode, a hardwire kit (sold separately) is required.

Step 3: Installing and Adjusting the Rear Camera

  1. Apply Rear Sticker: Clean the top‑center of rear windshield; peel, place (do not cover lens), and press from center to remove bubbles.
  2. Route the Cable: Run cable from front camera along headliner and C‑pillar/side trim; plug securely into rear camera port.
  3. Mount and Align: Orient upright (SAFY logo upright when viewed inside); secure mount bracket.
  4. Adjust the Angle: Switch front display to rear‑view mode (or use the App Live View - Step 5); tilt until a clear, straight view behind the vehicle is captured.

Step 4: Camera Angle Adjustment and Final Check

  1. Front Adjustment: Power on and open live preview via the SAFY Direct App. Adjust angle to face straight ahead and capture the road clearly.
  2. Rear Adjustment: Confirm the rear camera captures a clear, straight view behind the vehicle.

Step 5: Connect and Optimize with the SAFY Direct App

  1. Download the App: Search “SAFY Direct” in App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and install.
  2. Pair Your Device: Turn on the Dashcam (it creates its own Wi‑Fi hotspot). Open the app → tap the “+” (top‑right) → select SAFY9 in device list → follow in‑app pairing steps.
  3. Connect to Hotspot: In phone Wi‑Fi settings, select the dashcam SSID. Default password is required. (Disable VPN before connecting.)
  4. Ready to Use: You can now utilize all features: Live View, Playback recordings, Download videos, Adjust settings, and Update firmware (FOTA).
